Brief History of DCAL
DCAL was established to provide a platform to seek, cultivate and administer opportunities for collaborations, Affiliations and Linkages with other institutions, agencies, and corporate bodies of both national and international contexts while facilitating internalization of the University’s activities.
Mandates of the Directorate includes amongst others as following:
- Building the University’s profile nationally and internationally through partnering with high profile institutions.
- Contributing to the University’s reputation through strengthened capacity development, research and community development collaboration.
- Facilitating engagements where the existence of a formal agreement is required.
- To also provide support, advice and assistance to the academic and administrative units of the University to facilitate internalization in their respective spheres.
The Directorate for Collaborations, Affiliations and Linkages (DCAL) was first created as Directorate for Collaboration and External Linkages (CEL) and Affiliation and Local Linkages (ALL) by the University management on 1st September, 2006.
They were both fused and called Directorate for Collaborations, Affiliations and Linkages (DCAL) in January, 2008. The fusion became necessary due to the University’s quest for improvement in its service delivery via enhanced skills acquisition by members of staff and students, the expansion of her revenue base and better global recognition of her activities through internalization.
