THE PRELIMINARY DEGREE PROGRAMME:
This is a one year programme designed for candidates from catchment States of the University, who have five (5) credits in science based disciplines, and to prepare them for full time degree programme. Subjects required are: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural sciences, Economics and Geography. The subjects requirement vary from department to department, however, English Language and Mathematics are common to all.
Candidates are expected to have at least five â€œOâ€ level passes at credits level to include English Language, Mathematics and any other three from Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Biology/Agricultural science/Health Science and Economics. The Preliminary Degree Programme is two terms of eighteen weeks each, beginning from September of every year.
IJMB PROGRAMME (A-LEVEL):
This is an A-Level programme with the headquarter at Institute of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Candidates are expected to sit for a Final Examination IJMBE conducted by IJMB A.B.U. Zaria in February every year. It prepares candidates for admission into 200 level in Nigerian Universities and abroad. The IJMB is a 12 months programme run in 48 weeks beginning from June of each year.
Candidates are expected to have at least five credits which must include: English Language, Mathematics and any three of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography and Economics.
The proposal for Diploma programmes in collaborations with Schools, Departments, Service Centreâ€™s and Units in the University was presented. Specifically, the various Directors and Heads of Departments present at the academic board meeting were enjoined to come up with proposal for Diploma programmes to be hosted by the Centre. Along this line, CPES Management is making efforts to invite the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for resource verification as a letter requesting for . As at the time of this report, Information Technology Service (ITS) had noted its interest for the commencement of Diploma programme.
The Suleja Centre was successfully handed over to the University on the 12th July,2016 by HRH Mal.Awwal Ibrahim CON (Sarkin Zazzau Suleja).
The first batch of students admitted into the Centre was during the 2018/2019 academic session. A total of 126 students were registered out of the 320admitted for 2018/2019. The 2019 /2020 session was marred by the COVID-19 Pandemic that ravaged the World. Out of the 196 candidates admitted into the Centre, only 62 students successfully registered for the 2019/2020 session.
